This blog is dedicated to my lecturer, friends, family and anyone who loves to share and gain knowledge. I hope this blog will be always having something new or latest to share with.

This blog is done actually to complete my task for subject that I take for this semester (ICT in Biology).

My name is Mardhiana Mohamed. I am from Kelantan. I was born on 1st of August 1989 at Hospital Umum Kuching. I am the third out of 5 siblings, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. My father as a teacher and my mother is a housewife. I love my family very much. My family will be always in my heart.

I like to eat Malay cooking but my tongue always attracted to spicy and sour foods such as Tom Yam. I like to drink just mineral water. I also love ice-cream very much. Actually, I do not sure with my interest but, I always read the books especially motivation books written by our local motivator such as Dr.HM Tuah and all. The last books that I was read is ‘Membina Hati Bahagia’. Sometimes, I think that I like to read motivation books because of my feeling, easy to touch. I confess that I am quite sensitive girl. But, I can’t easily angry people. So, by reading this type of books, I can make me strong and always think positive.

Talk about my study background, my primary school is SK Penambang at Kota Bharu. Then, I further my studies at SMK Dato’ Ahmad Maher also at Kota Bharu from form 1 until 5. Then, I continue taking biological Science courses at Kedah Matriculation College for about 1 year. And now, I am at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, the only education university in Malaysia. I take Degree in Education of Science, major in Biology and minor in Chemistry. InsyaAllah, I will be a teacher on 2012.

Repeated experiment was success..

My group members and I was done our second experiment. It is due to the problems that we faced while handling our first experiment. We have obtain our expected result which is the pH is decrease while time is increases. Further explanation will be discussed in our report that will be uploading.

New experiment was planned..

As our experiment was failed last week, we have plan new experiment title: acidification of milk. The lesson plan is already finish (refer to the lesson plan label). In this experiment, we need to know the concept about the activity of bacteria at the optimum temperature. This experiment will take 30 hours in duration.

The precursor of data logging that we will use is pH. Our expected result is the value of pH is decreasing as time is increase. The temperature need to be constant at 37˚c, so we need to keep the milk in the water bath.

This experiment actually will be held by tomorrow. I hope that this experiment wills success.

Issues & challenges when ICT is integrate in teaching and learning in our Malaysian Schools.

In my opinion, there are a lot of issues and challenges when ICT is integrate in teaching and learning in our Malaysian Schools. One of the issues is more building is needed to place the ICT components such as computer, LCD, smart board and so on. It is not such a small things, so they need big enough space to be placed and used by the students and teachers in teaching and learning process. Therefore, to build a building complete with all things for ensure that all the facilities are provided such as air conditioner, chairs and tables, a strategic location is needed. Meaning that, this building should be build around the school. But, the most important issue is what will happen if not enough space to build it. For example, in a school complex area, the space provided is just enough for such school. So, to add other building, it brings a lot of problem. At last, the computer or ICT lab is just renovate from any room that still can be used. This room of course not as well as new building include in their facilities. For example, the computer provided for teachers and students is limited as the place is limited. This will give some bad effects to the students as they cannot practise the ICT skills well to ensure that they always bear in mind about the ICT skills that have learned.

One of the challenges in integrating ICT in teaching and learning in our Malaysian Schools is the way use to practice ICT skills especially among students is not really practical. This is happen among the students at the rural area. This is because, the teachers only teach students how to use computer at school. The students may be excellence during that session, but when they come back to home, they don’t have chances to practice what they have learned at school. This situation happened because students at the rural area not afford to have a computer at home. Because of that, government need to think a new way or method to be applied to the students to introduce ICT to them. The method of course must afford by all student to get it. For example, the ICT lab at school should be open and can be used by the students even after school hours. This may give a lot of advantages to the students as they can practise the skills that they have learned during school hours.

All in all, integrating ICT in teaching and learning process in our Malaysian Schools is the best way as it make the process become easy and easy. But, government should have a new think to ensure that all of the students either in the rural or urban area can practise well for what they have learned at school.

Milk Acidification..

We have given an asignment to do a lesson plan and we need to do an experiment by using data logging. So, we have plan to teach about milk acidification and lesson plan should be done first.

Learn from failure..

Yesterday, my group members and I have done an experiment by using data logging. The experiment title: effects of temperature on enzyme reaction. The precursor that we have used is temperature. After about 30minutes set up the apparatus and all that, the data logging was running. We found that the graph shows time and temperature.

When time is increase, the temperature also increases. Then, all of us start thinking, what will be the result obtain. On that time, we think that our experiment actually failed. Data logging only can detect the temperature, but not the rate of reaction. Actually, our experiment result’s is based on the observation, it is not depending on the data logging as well. So, by hook or by crook, we need to plan other experiment on the other time. Before do another experiment that is used data logging, we need to do another lesson plan.
